Van Hemlock Episode 17

This week we’ve been linking up with friends in games and so decided to chat about the barriers that games throw at us to make this hard. Region locking, servers, levels and classes get moaned about, but are there any games we think do this well? Please consider reviewing this show on iTunes (good or bad!), comment on it on virginworlds.com or follow us on Twitter as vanhemlock and jonshute.

Van Hemlock Episode 16

This week we offer uninformed commentary on the news, Jon stands by his strange idea that Conan stands a chance of growing in the future for the very last time (I promise) and we both reveal that our gaming lives seem to be ruled by twitter.

We also have the winner for our competition for an Eve USB pen drive, for which we are very grateful to Valerie "Pann" Massey from CCP and Urban Mongral from the Warp Drive Active Podcast for making us feel that real people may actually know about us. The  screenshot with the winning number can be seen here: http://tinyurl.com/6amo2u and congratulations to our winner.

Van Hemlock Episode 13

What happens when a madman decides to arrange a live recording of enough material to make a podcast at an event that has nothing to do with MMOs and no confirmed guests? Find out with this show!

This is a live recording in the field (or formal gardens in some cases) so audio quality varies. Backing music is supplied by the salsa band that was playing in the background.

Thanks to Changling Bob, Zoso, Melmoth and Steve for the content, and the universe for the amazing weather we had. Glorious sunshine. The noise in the background is static and not wind and rain!

Van Hemlock Episode 11

Despite all the odds we have a new show, although it’s recorded on wax cylinder and the studio needs rebuilding.

Lots of  news, and what those of us with working computers have been playing.

We shall be here on the 9th of August. Pipe up if you’re going too. Yes, it has nothing to do with games and we don’t expect anybody to turn up. It’s just where we’re going to be next, OK?

Van Hemlock Episode 10

Episode 10, in which our heroes show they can’t learn from past mistakes so are still playing far too many games and that the Internet is wrong and Jon is right.

End music is a treat for Crackdown fans because I’m feeling positive about All Points Bulletin. Bonus points if you recognise where the other piece comes from, but it is MMO related.

PS3 added trophies this month so we’re talking about achievements in games.

Van Hemlock Episode 8

In which our heroes prepare for war, have played a shockingly high number of games since the last show and then go off on a big ramble about games using existing IPs.

Eve Online Concurrency Numbers
Clear Skies, for the one person who managed to miss it.

Tabula Rasa, Guild Wars, Everquest, Everquest 2, Guildwars, Oblivion’s The Shivering Isles, Eve Online, Lord of the Rings Online, Age of Conan, Rockband.

Horror games:
Thief: Deadly Shadows, AvP 2, Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth, World of Darkness Online, Doom 3

MMOs with well known IPS.
