Blake’s 7 could be said to be Star Trek meets 1984, on a shoe-string budget. Lots a bad episodes with a few excellent one’s mixed in. (which are well worth the effort to watch through all of them). More was spent on the costumes than the special effects. The end of the series is without peer compared to any effort since in the sci-fi genre for TV, on my own opinion. Blue Peter actually featured how to make the teleport bracklet. There have been efforts over the years to re-make the show – all of which have come to naught. I would argue there is more in the dialogue between the characters than direct plots or the effects. Also keep in mind that during its run there were very few sci-fi shows being made. It would be years before Star Trek would be re-booted when Blake’s 7 ended. The seventies is littered with efforts which only lasted a season or two. Blake’s 7 run lasted four.

Hopefully the Microsoft deal will go through and the remake will get made. It may be Xbox exclusive (which won’t mean just on consoles), but at least it’ll be somebody willing to take a punt on the idea!
