How To Murder Time 2.29 Tales of the Arabian Nights

This week we’re back in the lab and playing a board game: Tales of the Arabian Nights.

This is a narrative driven game that shares lots in common with Choose Your Own Adventure books, but is it any good?

I spent a lot of time in jail the first time I played Arabian Nights. We didn’t play again for a long time. When we did play again, I had a lot more fun. It seemed I did best when I choose the action that seemed most inappropriate. I don’t recommend it with 6. I like playing with 3, 4 at the most. With more than that the game is super long, and it’s a long time between turns. When you play with three: one person takes their turn, the person to the right reads, the person to the left does charts. Every one has something to do every turn. We play only every now and then, and we’ve really enjoyed it.

It seems like they would have done better turning that matrix rulebook into one of those cheap educational computer things rather than a gigantic book. Press the core as ponding number and the screen brings up the appropriate person table.

Going by the price of those kids toys it probably would have been cheaper to do too

Other than that It was a nice podcast, was fun listening and laughing along
